We preserve the historic Old Pine Street Church graveyard, a nationally recognized site that contains the graves of 285 veterans of the American Revolution.
We develop educational programs and conduct tours that engage citizens in exploring and understanding our collective past and its impact on us today.
We conduct research into the lives of those buried here and publish biographical sketches we make available to the community on our website.
Over the years, Old Pine Conservancy has received two generous matching Keystone Historic Preservation Grants of $25,000 from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. One was to repair the most damage gravestones in the churchyard. The other was to repair the 1835 fence along the West side of Pine Street that was ready to topple. We are grateful for those grants, and are always looking for ways to obtain more funds.
Old Pine Conservancy focuses on education in just about everything we do: researching our graveyard residents; writing articles for Heritage Magazine about the people buried here; and exploring their lives in our community lecture series. We also stress education in our tour brochures, and in our new audio tour app now being developed. Using both traditional media and today’s evolving social media, we are making our story relevant to all our audiences.
